When you have any type of plumbing problem it can be stressful. We strive to get to you as fast as possible and help that way but there are a couple of things you need to know so that you can help yourself.
Firstly its very important to know where your indoor stop tap is located. That way you can turn off the water to your property until the plumber gets there.
This is usually a large tap in the back of the cupboard under the kitchen sink. It may, however be in a totally different location like a cloakroom some hard to get to place.
This tap should then be turned clockwise which will turn off the water coming in to your home. Run the cold water tap and it will soon stop running. If it does not it may be that its a bit stiff and just needs a bit more pressure.
Then you should also know the location of your main outside stop valve. This is usually at the front of the house and should have the word WATER or the letter W on the front of the plate.
